www.fcbarcelona.com.br, new domain for FC Barcelona’s Brazilian website
Brazil is one of FC Barcelona’s key strategic markets. It’s a world power in the 2.0 environment and the Club wants to intensify its digital presence through its website and social networks

FC Barcelona is continuing to diversify its web content into different languages, and on occasion of the World Cup in Brazil, it has re-launched its Brazilian website with content specially focused on that country’s users. It has also reinforced its Brazilian identity in the form of a new domain: www.fcbarcelona.com.br

The website was launched in October 2013, and helps the club to connect with its Brazilian followers. The Barça website is currently available in nine different languages, and the Portuguese version, which until now was only available at www.fcbarcelona.pt, is to be specially focused on FC Barcelona’s strong Brazilian tradition. Brazil is the country that has provided the second highest number of foreign players to FC Barcelona in its history (topped only by England, although most of those players date back to the very earliest years of the club).

 Multiplatform content

There are three Brazilians in the current first team squad: Neymar, Dani Alves and Adriano, as well as several of their compatriots in the club’s other sports teams, which adds to the very special dynamic being designed for the Brazil-focused version of the Portuguese language service.

When the website was launched last October, a special promo was recorded that featured Adriano, Marcelinho, Gabriel, Wilde and Ari Santos taking different challenges. Barça has prepared a new video for this re-launch that once again includes a Brazilian theme and highlights the multi-platform nature of the website, with optimised multimedia content not just for computers, but also for smartphones and tablets.

Social networks on the rise

FC Barcelona is well aware of the huge potential of the Brazilian 2.0 market. After only Indonesia and Mexico, it has the third highest number of foreign followers of its official Facebook page. Of the club’s 67 million Facebook users, there are a massive 3.7 million in Brazil. And Portuguese is the fifth most widely used language among fans on that social network, topped only by English, Spanish, Indonesian and French.

Barça’s Brazilian Twitter account (@fcbarcelona_br), launched this season to coincide with the signing of Neymar Jr, has 92,400 followers, and its official LINE account has a further 220,223 fans.

So, www.fcbarcelona.com.br is the latest of several initiatives to strengthen the club’s bond with its Brazilian fan base and keep them up to date with the day-to-day happenings at FC Barcelona.

The young Philippine girl, winner of the 2013 beauty contest, was in no doubt about which team she supports

FC Barcelona has a faithful fan from the world of beauty, and she is no other than Megan Young, winner of the title of Miss World 2013. The young Philippine girl, present at the closing ceremony of the CineEurope convention, where FC Barcelona was awarded the Variety Humanitarian Award 2013 for its humanitarian efforts in the education of children, was proudly photographed with a Barca shirt that she received from President Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Megan Young, on Barca TV, expressed her gratitude for "this very special gift" as she said she was a faithful follower of the team. "Since the last World Cup, I have made many Barça friends who make me watch games and explain things about football. It's great to learn about this fantastic team who we all now support".

The current Miss World was very excited by the gift because "I had always planned to get a Barça shirt". Now she’ll be able to support Luis Enrique’s team, wearing the shirt. "My friends and all Barcelona fans in the Philippines will envy me", she said.

The Philippine beauty won the crown in Bali, in a ceremony in which 127 countries participated. Thus, Young won the award for her country for the first time in its history. Now, with her Barça shirt in her suitcase, it only remains for her to go to the Camp Nou for the first time. She still hasn’t done it yet but she’s clear that "when I return to Barcelona and Barça play at home, I will come with my friends to watch a game".

[[DES_1]]President Josep Maria Bartomeu reviewed the 2013/14 season and explained his plans for the future of the Club to the gathered media. “I want to transform Barça. I want to make it more effective. That’s why our aim is to improve the athletic, executive and directive ares,” he declared. Bartomeu reiterated the statements he recently made to the FC Barcelona Senate concerning the leadership of the Board of Directors, a governing body he chairs: “Our leadership is and will continue to be firm and sensible.”

The president qualified this past season as a “contrasting year” that “is yet more proof of the institution’s maturity and extraordinary social power.” He enumerated “the off-the-pitch controversies, institutional changes, some sporting disappointments, and tragic news,” like the passing of Tito Vilanova. He also reminded the press of the “good news for the Club” within the context of “sports, the social area, patrimony and the Club’s economy.” Bartomeu also highlighted the “historic referendum which will start the most important social and infrastructure project in the Club’s recent history.”

[[DES_2]]On his five months as Club president, he said: “I wanted to transmit calmness and tranquility to the directors. We are convinced that we have done things correctly.” He continued: “Our project doesn’t end in 2016, especially if we keep the Espai Barça in mind. We are excited to stand for reelection.”

President Bartomeu also weighed in on the so-called ‘Neymar case’: “We are very calm about this. The tax authority has one interpretation and we have our own. If the truth comes out during the judicial hearing on July 21, it will benefit Barça. We are not frightened by the possibility of imputation. If we are called, we will explain the operation to the judge.”

The FC Barcelona president then touched on the following five points: the first team situation, the professional teams, the Social Area, the Economic Area and the future of the Club.
[[CITA_1]]
Turning to the Club's sporting ventures, Bartomeu said the results from the Club’s professional teams and the youth teams are “brilliant,” but he also noted that the “the football team’s results weren’t the desired ones, it’s not sufficient to compete for the big titles and only win the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa Catalunya.” Bartomeu went on to say that the team requires a “profound remodeling”: “The team needs changes and we will make them. In fact, that’s what we’re doing.” He then thanked Valdés, Cesc, Puyol and Pinto – all of whom will no longer feature for Barça –for their contributions to the team. The president then thanked Guillermo Amor for his four years of work in the FC Barcelona youth system.

Bartomeu went on to highlight the “Club’s multi-sports work” which saw the Club’s professional teams conquer 14 titles in the 2013/14 season. “It’s one of the best trophy hauls we’ve had in recent years,” said the president.
[[CITA_2]]
He also praised the “economic strength” of the Club and the “growth” that it maintains. “Barca’s economic health is not the end goal, but it is a good and essential tool that will guarantee the independence of the Club and benefit athletic and infrastructure investments,” he said. Bartomeu also noted that the Club will close out the fiscal year having reduced the net debt and increased revenues to record levels.

Finally, on the future of the Club, the president discussed the roadmap set by the Board of Directors. The goals are the following: improve the competitiveness of all the professional teams, initiate the Espai Barça Project, continue with the current economic strategy, continue developing the Foundation’s global projects, and completing the ‘Peñas Siglo XXI’ project.

The football team’s results weren’t the desired ones, it’s not sufficient to compete for the big titles and only win the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa Catalunya

The chosen tourists start their Barça Experience by boarding the first team motor-coach, and then they are taken to the Camp Nou and instructed to remove their blindfolds once they reach the pitch of the famous stadium.

Concurs a Instagram
