In an official communiqué, FC Barcelona has reiterated its support for the Catalan language and one of the pillars of the national education system known as linguistic immersion” which educates children in the Catalan language, explaining: “our language, like our Club, is an element which aids integration and provides a means to identify with our country, regardless of a citizen’s precedence or beliefs”

“FC Barcelona wishes to express its active support for the Catalan language and the model of linguistic immersion which has been employed in Catalonia over the last 34 years.
Our language, like our Club, is an element which aids integration and provides a means to identify with our country, regardless of a citizen’s precedence or beliefs. The Catalan language and its teaching in our schools form part of our identity and are key elements for social cohesion and coexistence within our country.
For these reasons, FC Barcelona reiterates its desire to serve our country, as it has done throughout its history and to defend our culture and our identity”.
