To celebrate Sant Jordi Day the Club will distribute 2,500 roses to fans and members at the Camp Nou Sant Jordi Day, also known Saint George’s Day, is one of the most unique Catalan festivals in the calendar year

FC Barcelona will distribute a total of 2,500 roses to Club members and fans this Wednesday in celebration of Sant Jordi Day. The Club will set up two distribution points: the first on the Camp Nou esplanade and the second at the Palza Canaletas (Access Gate 15).

The roses will be conducted by stewardesses dressed up in traditional Catalan ‘Pubillas’ outfits, and the distribution will start at 11:00 AM CET and end at 5:00 PM CET.

What is Sant Jordi Day?

Sant Jordi Day, also known Saint George’s Day, is one of the most unique Catalan festivals in the calendar year. During the day, couples usually exchange gifts: men receive a book and women receive a rose. Gift exchanges aren’t limited to couples in the throes of romance, however, family and friends also indulge in the tradition. It’s also worth pointing out that Sant Jordi has been the patron saint of Barcelona since the 15th century.

This weekend could not have been better for FC Barcelona, as far as athletics go, seeing that all of the Club’s professional teams won. The futsal and handball teams managed heroic feats in their respective European competitions, and the basketball and football teams won their league fixtures.

The first team fights for the league title

Barça made it clear that they were not giving up on La Liga this Sunday when they fought back from a two goal deficit away to Villarreal. Two own goals, after crosses from Alves, and a third goal from Messi allowed the Blaugrana to claim all three points in their visit to El Madrigal.

In other news, Barça B continued its winning streak when they defeated Las Palmas on Saturday (0-2). The men managed by Eusebio are third, six points away from the leaders, Deportivo. Barça B have won their last four games.

Glory for Barça Alusport

The men managed by Marc Carmona claimed the UEFA Futsal Cup this weakend in Bakú (Azerbaijan) two years after winning their first European title. The Blaugrana defeated Dinamo Moscow by 2 to 5 in an intense match that went to extra time.

Handball team reaches Final Four

The magic of the Palau was on Barça’s side in the Champions League match against Rhein Neckar Löwen. The Blaugrana had to fight back from a six-goal deficit from the first leg in order to reach the Final Four round in the competition. Pushed on by the home fans, Barça defeated the German side by seven goals (38-31).

Victories for basketball and hockey

Already qualified for the Final Four in Milan, the team managed by Xavi Pascual defeated Fuenlabrada at the Palau (81-63) thus securing a spot in the league playoffs. Despite a good start from the Madrid-based team (5-10), Barça dominated for nearly the whole match.

Barça’s roller hockey team also won their league match, their 23rd victory out of 25 matches played, against ICG Software Lleida (0-7). The goal scorers were Matías Pascual, Raül Marín and Marc Torra, a brace for each player, and Jordi Gabarra.

Each one of victories were dedicated to Tito Vilanova, who passed away on Friday.

No to racism .
FC Barcelona wishes to express its complete support and solidarity with our first team player Dani Alves, following the insults he was subject to from a section of the crowd at El Madrigal on Sunday during the game against Villarreal

FC Barcelona would like to underline the civil, cultural, social and sporting importance of two messages which UEFA remind us of before every game: Respect and No to Racism.

FC Barcelona wishes to express its complete support and solidarity with our first team player Dani Alves, following the insults he was subject to from a section of the crowd at El Madrigal on Sunday during the game against Villarreal. FC Barcelona accepts that the perpetrators of these insults are in no way connected to Villarreal and we value very positively the support the club offered to our player. The club’s immediate condemnation of the incidents is a step in the right direction to firstly isolate and then eradicate completely from the sporting arena this kind of behaviour.

FC Barcelona reiterates its support for UEFA’s message of Respect and No to Racism and urges all clubs to continue fighting against the blight on the game which any kind of aggression against a sportsperson on the basis of their race represents.

The aircraft, which features a stunning design incorporating the colourful Barça flag and club emblem draped across the tail-end of the Boeing 777, also features the tagline, ‘a team that unites the world’, which was first introduced in the popular TV spot created to support the partnership. The FC Barcelona livery, alongside the Qatar Airways Oryx logo, was crafted in Dublin, Ireland, where a team hand-painted the design with a shading effect to create the illusion of the Barça flag moving as the aircraft takes to the skies..

Statements by the president of FC Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, and Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency, Mr Akbar Al Baker

Bartomeu: “This plane symbolises the value of the alliance between Barça and Qatar Airways”

“It was very exciting to see this immensely spectacular plane so close up, the Qatar Airways Boeing 777 carrying the colours and crest of FC Barcelona. This is the first time that our sponsor’s Boeing 777 has appeared in our city and we are here to welcome it. This plane symbolises the value of the alliance between Barça and Qatar Airways and our universal and global outlook, as reflected in the intercontinental journeys we go on. We are delighted to see how our colours are travelling around the world”.

Al Baker: “The Boeing 777 demonstrates how strongly we believe in this partnership”

“We are thrilled to see our Boeing 777 with the custom designed FCB livery touch down in Barcelona, the home of our partners FC Barcelona. The arrival of the aircraft for the first time to this beautiful city was made all the more special by the attendance of the players, Mr. Bartomeu, Mr. Faus and Mr. Rossich. This beautiful aircraft representing both our airline and our friends at FC Barcelona further demonstrates how strongly and genuinely we believe in this partnership. We wish the team all the very best of luck for their final game on Saturday”.
